Downloading a YouTube thumbnail takes less than 10 seconds. Here's exactly how to do it on any device.
Open YouTube and navigate to the video whose thumbnail you want to download. It can be any public video — regular, a Short, from any channel worldwide.
Copy the URL from your browser's address bar. You can also tap the Share button under the video and copy the link from there. Both formats work perfectly.
Paste the URL into our tool on the homepage and click Download. All available thumbnail resolutions will appear instantly. Click your preferred size to save it.

| Quality | Resolution | Best For | File Size |
|---|---|---|---|

On iPhone, after clicking the Download button, the image may open in a new tab (Safari behavior). Simply long-press the image and tap "Add to Photos" or "Save to Files" to keep it.
On Android, the download should trigger automatically to your Downloads folder. If it opens in a new tab instead, long-press the image and tap "Download Image" or "Save Image".
Always look for the "MAX HD" option first. This is YouTube's highest resolution thumbnail (1280×720). If it's not available for a video, try "SD" which is the next best option at 640×480.
It's even easier than reading about it. Go download your first thumbnail right now.
